The Winning Dress

Hey! First let me say I am sorry for not visiting you lately at your blogs. I have held 3 events in the past 7 days including my baby's first birthday party! Pictures will be posted later this week.

Remember when I told you I won that shopping spree with Robbie Laughlin at Macy's? Well I wore it to the event I hosted with Stacy Vason last Sunday night along with the earrings and Jeffrey Campbell Tick Wedges that I have had for 3 years!

Motivational Monday

"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want, drink what you don’t like, and do what you’d rather not." Mark Twain

I think about eating better everyday. About living better and working out everyday. I have every intention to do Zumba every morning when I wake up. I have plans to blend some kale, apples, broccoli, etc, into a juice and let that be a meal. I have been playing volleyball every few weeks and I have been running around a lot. I make excuses for why I didn't do these things and then I feel guilty. I would love to live a refreshing, long, and healthy life. Yet, I still want to eat the things that I crave and what tastes good to me. Seems like the "good for you" food doesn't taste too hot. I'm going to have to spice it up or something. I will do Zumba today!

What do you do to live healthy and keep it up?

Justin and Jessica sitting in the tree....

So Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel got married last week! The details were kept secret even from guests until the event! I think they are a cute couple and I wish them the best. I hope they stay together and break the cycle of celebrity divorces.

Her dress was custom designed by Giambattista Valli in Italy! Pink is an awesome color.

What do you think about the union and the dress?

Motivational Monday- Rizzo's Diner

Morning! Saturday was Sweetest Day! It seems to be more popular and celebrated in the Midwest and Great Lakes region! I'm from the Great Lakes Region so hubby and I have to celebrate! We found a neighborhood gem for dinner.

Rizzo's was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. So my sister-n-law and I have been eager to go since we are foodies... It was remarkable. I have been complaining so much about not having many good restaurants or nice chains here that I have been ignoring the gems we do have. So I am going too explore more and be optimistic about what Memphis has to offer!

Here are some snapshots from our double date! I didn't want you to think that Hubby and I ate it all!
Duck confit entree
Cajun Chicken pot pie
Champagne in a can!!!
Stuffed avocado salad
Pulled pork spring rolls
Lobster Pronto Pups ( YUUUUUMMMMMMYYYYY)
Pork Belly and Mashed Potatoes

Blueberry and White Chocolate Bread Pudding

Ice Cream Sandwich Banana Split

Everything was really good! Find some neighborhood gems in your area! It's exciting!

Lucky Me ( Macy Fall Fashion Event Part 2)

So I told you had a great time at the Macy's Fall Fashion Show! I won a 15 minute shopping spree with Robbie Laughlin while he shared tips and helped me spend my gift card! I had to fit it before I bought it.  He was so cool and said that I could wear any color! He also said that everyone needs a little black dress. I needed a new one and we found one! I hope to rock the pieces here shortly and I will post.
Here are the items I ended up with!

Black peplum sheath dress by INC

I am so excited about my non-leather motorcycle jacket from bar III

I ended up with these Calvin Klein Kendall pumps after the Rachel Roy purple pumps  did not fit.

These are the Rachel Roy pumps I wanted.... I got the earrings too!

Motivational Monday

Happy Monday! I had a great vacation in Destin, Florida. We had a nice condo on the beach. It's true when they say the beach cures everything! I was tired of work and the same ole same ole. It did my body good to be on vacation and on the beach! I just hate that it went so fast. We had my BFF fly in so we could go out alone a few nights.

It's not a want. It's a need. You are supposed to get away and go on a vacation at least every 6 months. 4-5 days away from the usual and from the increasing stress of the working class.

So plan you a getaway. Girls trip, family trip, or a couples getaway. It does your body and mind good!

Here are a few of my Instagram pictures.

Macy's Fall Fashion Event Recap (Part 1)

Saturday, I attended the Macy's Fall Fashion Event that was hosted by Robbie Laughlin. He is a recurring guest stylist on Style Network's show, "How do I Look?".  You may have also seen him on Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Girl". He loves all things fashion and beauty. I wanted the blazer that he had on.

If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen how excited I was about the fall fashion that Robbie showed us during the mini fashion show! Of course, oxblood is in. Skinny jeans are not going anywhere so you better get on board. Greens, neutrals, and naturals are in. Robbie called those looks, Style Hunter. The Mod Girl will be very relevant with knee high boots, short dresses, and prints. Now he did show furs! Yes real furs! He confessed that he is still a fan of fur and then dropped his mouth from shock that he didn't get booed!

Bring your pencil skirts, nude pumps, jewel toned skinny jeans, cobalt blue anything into the fall with you! Below are looks shown in the show to give you some inspiration!

Style Hunter Look

This was one of my favorites
I love the oxblood skinnies by INC

Robbie was a great host. He kept the crowd live and attentive and he gave awesome tips on how to perk up your wardrobe. Use these as inspiration and work it!!

Did you like any of these styles? Do you plan to update your wardrobe by adding any looks?

I have another post coming to tell you about my the shopping spree I won with Robbie! Stay tuned!

Anniversary OOTN

I'm posting my outfit of the night that I wore to dinner last Saturday. You must know that I was disappointed with the weather as it turned rainy and super cold here. I wanted to wear my peplum dress similar to the one I put in my post last week (I won it on shopping spree at Macy's- details to come) but it was not the right weather for me! So I broke out this Hale Bob dress that I purchased last year on Rue la la. Sometimes just a hint of shoulder does the trick!!! Lol! I know I look goofy here but you can see my whole outfit! I am really going to try to get more shots of outfits in the future.

Happy Anniversary to Us

Nearly 10 years ago, I met my husband. I didn't know at that time that this guy would be "the one". We didn't even hang out after meeting but he was always so respectful, kind, and pleasant to me. Those attributes are rare these days. Very rare. He was in a long term relationship at the time but it didn't matter because there was no idea of "us"! In fact, my classmate had a crush on him. I was in a complicated long distance relationship that I was trying to force to work. I would later find that love is not forced, real love, that is. It's easy. I would later find that each of my past relationships were not the real thing. I would later feel the way a woman should be treated and desired. My husband showed me that.

We started dating 2 years later-after a few weeks of studying for kinetics and therapeutics (both tough courses required to become a pharmacist). It was easy. There was no forcing it. We had very different upbringings- I had a single mother, he had a 2 parent household. I was a city girl. He was from the South. I ran the streets. He was a homebody. But we were still so similar. He got me. We had so much in common- music, movies, ideas of the future, our love for Scrabble, and the good heart that makes us kind. I was eager to spend time with him because he knew how to treat me. I didn't have to teach him a thing! I was ready for love and he was ready to love me. I had been disappointed and lied to so many times in the past, I was content with the fact that there was NOONE in the world who could measure up- who would love me unconditionally and I accept and return. When I least expected it, God gave me Nate. The name Nathaniel means God's Gift and he truly is. No one is perfect, but he's perfect for me!

Today we celebrate 5 years of marriage and 7 years of love. He proposed to me on a Scrabble board. That story can be told on another date!
Happy Anniversary to Us!
