Motivational Monday- I Can

Hello all!  I do not know how many Nas fans follow me but I have been thinking of this throwback song from Nas called I Can. This song has messages throughout and it sounds good. Nas delivers inspiring lyrics here targeted towards the girls and boys growing up in the hood who don't have many role models or much hope. Just had to share since it's been on my mind.

Questionnaire from a First Time Mom

Hey all. I decided to ask you all what you all do to get some ideas and/or rules.  Hubby and I have never raised a child but we think we have been doing pretty good so far! Anyhow, I have a small questionnaire for you- even if you are not parents- to get some things you have done or seen in these circumstances. Here goes:

1.  TV. How much, if any TV should an almost 1 year old get? We let her watch Sesame Street, as she loves Elmo but sometimes we watch our shows and she is in the room and we find that she is trying to watch. So we have decided to put her in her playpen in another room while we watch our shows and to limit her content from TV to 4-5 hours if not less a day. She has been hearing the TV hours on hours since birth because it would always be on. We don't think that it is healthy.

2.  Party: I am planning a nice but not extravagant 1st birthday party for her. I have set the theme to a cupcake theme being that she is our little cupcake! However, I look forward to the rest of her birthdays. Some of them I plan to just go on trips and no party. Is she supposed to get a party every year for pictures sake? I am kind of person to do what I want when it comes to that but I don't want to "spoil" her to them!

3.  Milk: They say once she is one, she is able to tolerate cow's milk. How do we transition? Do you give 1/2 formula and 1/2 cow's milk. Can avoid cow's milk and give almond milk/soy milk or is she too young for that?

4.  Nadia has become extra excited to eat real food. She likes toast, chicken, and spaghetti. What foods are off limits at this age? I have books on it but some of them say one thing and some say another.

5.  Gated area: We have like  an open floor plan downstairs. This is where we usually are. We have baby proofed the sockets. Now since she can crawl EVERYWHERE, we wonder if we should confine here to a space like the gated area like below. What do you think?

Please take some time and give your take. It would mean a lot!

Eden fantasys - Parental discretion advised

While in New York for BlogHer, I visited a booth that I was hearing about called Eden Fantasys (this is how they spell it!) They were giving out toys for couples- I received the c-ring. I am ashamed to say we have not had a chance to try it out yet. I am still unpacking the goodies I got from my trip to New York. That is so sad! A c-ring is designed to support the male part to stay stronger longer and to add pleasure to the already banging experience by adding more stimulation. So the goal is to go a night long, I guess!

Eden Fantasys is not just a one stop shop for sexual toys but they have sophisticated products as well. They have lingerie, body paint, massage oils, books, condoms and so much more!

Some people find it raunchy to talk about this stuff. To be honest, it is a little weird to even mention that I received a c-ring as a gift but we are grown and sex is how we got here! People go through the motions in relationships and marriage and forget to spice it up from time to time. I believe Eden Fantasys is the spice you need!

Here is one of the costumes they have- would you role play?

Hey! I know I am slow to getting this posted but here we go! First, I want to say that I was no longer nervous on the day of and I just said, "it is what it is" and it surpassed my expectations.  I will give you a detailed recap of my event from Fashion's Night Out.

We had a pasta station, fruit kabobs, specialty drinks called A Wink in My Cup and Pouty Mouth, a manicure station, a DIY station (people tried on some of the products), swag bag station, and makeup tutorials.  We gave away 3 items to winners of Twitter , Facebook, and a Twitpic contest.

I wore Suakoko Betty! I was impressed with her work at The Baby Shopaholic's event in NYC and I had to get her to make me something! Loved it!

Evita, lovely makeup artists offering mini makeovers with Pouts and Winks!

Roshotta,  makeup artist also offering stunning mini makeovers!
I love this shot of her and Beale Street Chic
Christa from Christa's Delicious Creations supplied the tasty cupcakes that were on point!
Caramel apple, pink velvet, strawberry with strawberries on top, and chocolate.  Check her out on Facebook!

Ray from Ray Ray iFilm who is responsible for these fabulous shots!

Treshina Brownlee- a superb nail technician and teacher at a cosmetology school hooked up many of the guests with complimentary mini manicures!

Guests enjoying the night! The Vault at Metro 67 is off the chain!
Caterer is Dreams and Desires Catering based here in Memphis. The pasta station was  jumping all night!
Great shot of one of the winning guests, Dominique and my PR agent Dani from diPR Agency! She made this event extra dope!

Hubby and I
He was running around all night trying to get last minute things for me but we still hit the red carpet! LOL!

Swag Bag Station- Included Kiss Cosmetics, Sinful Nail polish,  and one item from Pouts and Winks!

Kiss Cosmetics sent over these fabulous items to put in the swag bags- the new Kiss premium eyelashes with applicator strings, the strip eyelash adhesive, Kiss Nail dress, and Impress press-on manicure! These items retail for at least $8-$9 a pop each! So this was super to have them sponsor! Try them out! I have on the eyelashes and Roshotta demonstrated how to apply  during a tutorial at the party!

Now for the fantastic video recap that Ray Ray iFilm created!! Please tell me what you think!

Please check out the rest of the photos on my Facebook page! Lovely!

Motivational Monday

I know. I know. I know. I have been M.I.A.! It's all good though! I will have posts later this week highlighting my launch party for Pouts and Winks.

I am posting this late because I was busy and I didn't have any inspiration. However, after meeting with my friend/hair stylist today, I am super motivated and super inspired. She is a wealth of inspiration and has a wonderful soul! She is easy but firm. You know what I mean? She is powerful but calm. That's what I like. I don't like no boss hog! You know what I mean? Anyways, she taught me something today while we were brainstorming and putting things into action for an event that will be phenomenal once we get all of the missing pieces in line. She taught me to never take NO for answer! That being said, she SHOWED me that today. We made a call to set up a spur of the moment meeting with a
venue manager today. He said he wanted to meet Thursday. I said ok. She said "No, make it work today!" With some coaching, I got us in today!

You will never move forward progressively if you let the door easily close on you. If opportunity is there, you move with confidence and faith and the door will remain open for you. Say the right things at the right time with passion and professionalism and the result of it all is progress!

Thanks Stacy! Let's move!

Pre-launch Party Prep

So tomorrow is the party! Woot! Woot! I just wanted to share some of the PRE-details!

I am excited to be rocking Suakoko Betty ( if it fits- being delivered today)! She designed an outfit for me after I went crazy over my girl Trina's outfit from her blog NYC Lipstick and High Heels Event! So  I am praying that it fits properly because I am in Memphis and she is in ATL! No time to fly in for a fitting!

I am  also excited and grateful that Kiss cosmetics has sent me some products to include in the swag bags! The gave an abundance of goodies that I think everyone will love! I am ever so grateful!

I am happy that diPR Agency took on this project. This is my first time working with a PR agency and I hope that it turns into a great relationship. While I was searching google for my venue to show my Hubby, I cam across this press release that they put together:

Beautiful People,

Please join us at Metro67's "The Vault" for a glamorous evening of hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and cosmetics from the brand new makeup boutique Pouts & Winks.

Invited makeup connoisseurs, fashion aficionados, and trend spotters will be treated to one night of endless beauty treatments. Plus, we have gifts galore at the Swag Station, including the ultimate beauty bag for the first 25 guests.

We'll see you there.
